Pierre-Emerick Aubemayng has admitted that he is ‘a little shy’ despite being Arsenal captain, as he told Premier League Daily on Premier League Productions (18/11/21 at 10:35 am).
The Arsenal hitman stated that ‘everyone is expecting me to communicate a lot’, but he made it clear that he isn’t that type of person.
When Unai Emery was in the North London dugout, he handed the captain’s armband to the striker after that infamous incident involving Granit Xhaka against Crystal Palace.
Not long after, Mikel Arteta walked through the club’s doors and he kept him on as skipper.
Despite holding such a key role in the Emirates dressing room, Aubameyang admitted to not being as vocal, as he shared how he deals with matters.
“I think everyone is expecting me to communicate a lot,” said Aubameyang. “But I am a little shy and quiet guy.
“But that’s okay. I try to improve on that. Most importantly, I definitely try to speak in the dressing room.
“I think that’s the biggest part for me and I always try to be positive and always give support to the guys.”

At this moment in time, things are rosy in the Arsenal garden because of how Arteta’s side have climbed the Premier League table since losing their opening three matches.
That probably makes Aubameyang’s life easier in bringing the team together.
But he does hold an even more important role because of the young squad Arteta is building.
When the likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka are some of your key, if not your main players, then you know that you are dealing with some young guns in the dressing room.
