Tim Sherwood has claimed that he is a ‘bit disturbed’ by Nuno Espirito Santo’s comments after Tottenham’s defeat in the London derby on Sunday, as he told Premier League Productions (19/09/21 at 6:50 pm)
It was a performance and game to forget for Spurs, who barring the first half an hour or so, were outclassed by their neighbours in their own back-yard.
More so in the second half, Thomas Tuchel’s side turned it on and Spurs just couldn’t live with the attacking threat and speed of play their opponents brought to the table.
After the game, Nuno spoke about how he felt it was a ‘good game’ during the first period and ‘competitive’, as he told Sky Sports.
He also added that ‘the set-piece and (opening) goal’, which game via Thiago Silva’s head, ‘changed the game’.
But Sherwood, who has also sat in that pressured Tottenham seat, wasn’t having any of what he was hearing from the Tottenham man.
“I am a bit disturbed,” said Sherwood. “Him keeping talking about the first half. Obviously, we know a game is 90 minutes long, 95 minutes, or whatever you want to put on for extra time.
“I thought in the second half, it was a really, really poor performance. Two attempts on the Chelsea goal from Spurs and 14 from Chelsea.
“Now, you can’t put that down to one set-piece or switching off from a set-piece. Yes, we spoke about the first goal being so important.
“But you can’t capitulate as they did and performance-wise. When he (Nuno) looks at it in the cold light of day. When the dust has settled then he will know that his team have run out of steam.”

This is where the real test begins for Nuno because calls of ‘you weren’t even first, second or third choice’ will be made by those critics.
Not only are the results worrying of late, but also the performances, even when they were winning games.
The manner of collapse and how Tuchel tactically outthought him in the second half is something that will be also hard to stomach for some.
At the end of the day, not many expected Spurs to win because they are facing off against the European champions, as hard as it may be to hear for their supporters.
But this is a London derby, and the lack of fight, especially after the early bright start, is where the Spurs supporters will be left fuming.
