Aaron Ramsdale admitted that he was ‘a bit annoyed’ with himself after he conceded during Arsenal’s North London derby win on Sunday, as he told Premier League Predictions (26/09/21 at 6:45 pm).

In a near-perfect afternoon for the shot-stopper, Ramsdale tasted a fine win in his first North London derby.

The first half would have been a dream for the summer signing because Arsenal raced into a 3-0 lead without their opponents really bothering Ramsdale in between the sticks.

The second half was a little quieter, but Heung-Min Son did score a consolation goal, and towards the end, Ramsdale pulled off a brilliant save to tip Lucas Moura’s curling effort onto the bar.

After the game, Ramsdale shared what he did wrong when trying to save Son’s effort because he did get a hand at it.

“I would have loved to have kept a clean sheet,” said Ramsdale. “I am a bit annoyed at myself with the goal.”

David Seaman, who was then stood next to the Arsenal keeper, started laughing and stated: “Don’t go there.”

Ramsdale then added: “If I keep my body weight forward then I think I save it. But this place (the Emirates) was rocking – and I am buzzing off this.”

That was the first goal Ramsdale conceded in the Premier for Arsenal, and even though it disappoints him, it just goes to show the type of character Mikel Arteta has brought to the club.

Arsenal have been crying for players who demand perfection and it seems as though Ramsdale has those traits.

Many questioned why the Gunners paid big money for a keeper that has suffered back-to-back relegations, especially after selling Emiliano Martinez for a lot less last summer.

Either way, whatever the noise from the outside, Ramsdale is proving his worth during these early stages so far.
