The Athletic are reporting that Leeds United know that Illan Meslier will attract big clubs in the coming years.

The report has claimed that Leeds ‘cannot be oblivious’ to the possibility that wealthy clubs might come calling for goalkeeper Meslier in the future.

Paris Saint-Germain reportedly took ‘a genuine interest’ in the 21-year-old before snapping up Gianluigi Donnarumma on a free transfer.

The Italy international goalkeeper left AC Milan at the end of last season and will earn €12 million (£10.24m) per year as salary at PSG, according to Sky Sports.

Staying positive

Meslier has been superb for Leeds and has established himself as the number one between the posts for the Whites.

The Frenchman has been so good that he kept a former Real Madrid goalkeeper, Kiko Casilla, out of the team.

Now, of course, at the moment, Leeds cannot compete with clubs such as PSG, Manchester City and Real Madrid when it comes to attracting the best players and paying high transfer fees and wages.

However, Leeds could hold onto Meslier for a number of years.

The Whites could be challenging for the European places in the Premier League table in the coming years, and that would help them in keeping hold of their best players and also attracting quality footballers.
