Ally McCoist has claimed that Arsenal would be signing a ‘right top player’ if they wind up bringing Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard to North London.
The talismanic French striker has been linked to the Gunners following a brilliant season for the Parkhead club.
Despite the season effectively finishing in March, Edouard still bagged a stunning 28 goals across all competitions for Celtic.
As a result, Arsenal are reportedly in the running [The Mirror] to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.
And due to his Rangers connection, Ibrox legend McCoist has told talkSPORT that he’s hoping a departure materialises.
He said: “The telltale sign, I’m reading a few of the Celtic boys, and they are coming out and asking him not to move, to wait another year.
“No way, I’m clearly of the opposite opinion, get him away, and if he goes to Leicester or Arsenal, I tell you what, they will be getting a right top player.”
Celtic will be desperate to keep him in Glasgow for at least another 12 months.
Next season is one of the biggest in the Hoops’ history because another Premiership title would be the club’s 10th in succession, something that’ll forever sting their Old Firm rivals Rangers.
And simply put, the Bhoys’ chances of succeeding on that front are far more possible if a striker like Edouard is sticking around.
