Tottenham Hotspur fans are fuming at Jose Mourinho after Juan Foyth’s performance for Villarreal against Arsenal last night.
Jose Mourinho decided to allow Foyth to depart Tottenham on loan at the start of the season, after he fell out of favour during his first half season at the club.
Foyth put in an error prone display against Norwich City for Spurs and was not seen again, with Mourinho clearly feeling that the Argentine defender wasn’t part of his plans.
However, the 23-year-old has since gone on to impress at Villarreal this term and his performance against Arsenal last night certainly caught Tottenham supporter’s eyes.
Foyth was a constant bundle of energy down the right, as he provided a strong attacking threat and defended well against Tottenham’s arch rivals.
Foyth put so much effort into the game he actually ended up pulling a muscle late on.
But Tottenham fans’ anger towards Mourinho only rose after witnessing Foyth’s display.
Tottenham fans’ frustrations are understandable, given how poorly their own right-backs have performed this term.
Serge Aurier has made far too many errors, while Matt Doherty has struggled badly since arriving from Wolves.
Spurs just haven’t been able to find a reliable option on the right-hand side of their defence.
It now remains to be seen whether Foyth could come back to Tottenham in the summer, as their new manager may well be keen to give him another chance to impress.
