Adam Lallana has stated on Instagram that Liverpool is a ‘second home’ for him and he will ‘never take it for granted’.
The 33-year-old returned to Anfield – with a full crowd – for the first time since leaving the club in 2020 for Brighton.
He produced an outstanding display in the middle of the park and assisted his side’s second goal as Brighton came from 2-0 down to record a 2-2 draw yesterday.
After the game, Lallana did a lap of Anfield and was applauded by all sections of the ground.
A popular figure during his time on Merseyside, it’s no surprise that Lallana was welcomed back in such a way by the home supporters.
It was clearly an emotional moment for the player and he sent this message to the Liverpool supporters on Instagram.
Given the performances Lallana is producing in Brighton colours this season, he would probably still be able to get a game for Jurgen Klopp’s side now.
Graham Potter’s side were brave in the formation they played yesterday, the intent they showed and the fearless nature in which they took on the free-scoring Reds.
Lallana played a huge part in that, as he dictated play on a number of occasions and picked up the pockets in the final third.
It has been some start to the season for Brighton – they are sitting in seventh place – and they are currently four points behind third-placed Manchester City in the Premier League table.
