Some Arsenal fans on Twitter are excited by a report coming out of Italy.

According to Tuttosport, Arsenal are ahead of AC Milan and leading the race to sign Dayot Upamecano.

The Leipzig centre-back is heavily linked with a move away from Germany and the Gunners, it seems, are in pole position to snap him up.

Here’s how fans of the Premier League side reacted to the news on Twitter.

Football London reported last month that the North Londoners could struggle to meet his £35 million valuation, so it remains to be seen how credible this report is.

One thing is for sure: they need central defenders.

Not in terms of numbers, because Mikel Arteta has an abundance of actual options, but only a handful are of any use.

William Saliba will be at Arsenal next season, having officially joined last summer, but the likes of Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and David Luiz have been linked with moves away.

None of those three are exactly stellar to begin with, so rebuilding with the likes of Saliba, Calum Chambers, Rob Holding and perhaps Upamecano could be the way to go.
