Every Tottenham Hotspur supporter will be glued to Sky Sports tonight as Arsenal visit Newcastle United.
It’s easily the biggest game of the season so far in regards to Champions League qualification.
On Sunday, Tottenham leapfrogged fourth-placed Arsenal by winning 1-0 at Burnley.
With the Gunners now fifth in the Premier League and two points behind their North London rivals with one game to go after tonight, victory is absolutely essential for Mikel Arteta’s side.
Speaking to BBC Sport after the win over the Clarets on Sunday, Kane joked that he would text former Spurs teammate Kieran Trippier – who is now a Newcastle player – to ask for a favour.
He said: “I’ll give Kieran Trippier a text. It’ll be a tough game for Arsenal, but we’ve taken care of what we needed to do.”
Starting on the bench
Unfortunately for Tottenham, Kane and Trippier, the Newcastle right-back has been injured for most of his time at St James’s Park and probably won’t be starting tonight.
He made his return in the 5-0 demolition by Manchester City last week, playing 22 minutes.
But the Magpies have nothing left to play for this season and therefore it would be questionable for Eddie Howe to rush him back, just to beat Arsenal.
