
Ajax fans have reacted on Twitter to rumours that they are keen to sign Tottenham winger, Steven Bergwijn, this summer.
Dutch journalist Mike Verwei has claimed that Tottenham’s struggling winger could return to his homeland this summer.
It’s been 18 or so months since Spurs paid PSV £27 million (BBC Sport) for Bergwijn’s talents, but it’s fair to say he hasn’t matched that price tag or shown any significant signs that he can excel in England’s top-flight.
One goal during the recently concluded season is proof that Tottenham fans won’t be too fussed if he heads for the exit door.
But Ajax supporters are more mixed at the idea of Bergwijn landing on their doorstep.
Attack-minded players, who have struggled in the Premier League before, have thrievd in Ajax colours, with Dusan Tadic being a prime example.
So, from Bergwijn’s perspective, this is perhaps a situation he should look at.
From Tottenham’s perspective, if a decent offer comes in for Bergwijn, even if it means they make a loss compared to what they paid for him then they should let him leave.
