Toby Alderweireld has shared on his Instagram story that he will be returning to Tottenham and will be at the stadium for their Europa League Conference clash against Vitesse on Thursday night.
The 32-year-old also added that he is ‘really looking forward’ to seeing the Spurs faithful.
In the summer, Alderweireld left the North London club and opted to take his defensive talents to Qatar.
It does seem as though he is on the last journey of his career, hence his decision to move to a lesser league because he still had the qualities to don the Spurs shirt for at least another season if he wished.
Nonetheless, this is what Alderweireld had to say to the Spurs supporters ahead of his first return tonight.
“Hi guys, I just wanted to let you know that I will be at the stadium for the Vitesse game,” said Alderweireld.
“And I really look forward to seeing you all. Bye-bye.”
Well, Alderweireld will be grateful that he wasn’t present in North London during their last outing because it was pretty horrific viewing.
Not only was the performance out on the pitch questionable, but the reaction from the fans in the stands spoke volumes.
That angry reaction from the fans worked because Nuno Espirito Santo is now out of the door and Antonio Conte is his replacement.
Whilst Alderweireld will get a warm reception from the home crowd, he won’t be the only one lapping it up before the game because Conte might just get the biggest cheer of them all.
