Tottenham Hotspur were beaten 4-1 by Manchester City, with Ilkay Gundogan scoring his side’s first goal.

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has questioned on BT Sport, whether Tottenham Hotspur knew he was so talented in the air.

Gundogan set City on their way to victory over Tottenham yesterday, when he was given far too much space to head home from a corner.

Spurs simply did not pick up the German midfielder, who waltzed into their box, and nodded the ball beyond Hugo Lloris and even Gundogan admitted he was shocked by how much time he had.

“I was surprised I was so free, but perhaps the Spurs players didn’t know I was so strong with my head,” Gundogan said.

After Gundogan found the back of the net, City never looked back, as they demolished Spurs.

Pep Guardiola’s side picked up their 16th straight league victory, to move 21 points clear of Tottenham in the Premier League standings.

A Raheem Sterling brace and a Kevin de Bruyne goal helped City to victory over Spurs, with a late consolation from Christian Eriksen all Tottenham had to show for their efforts.

Spurs’ defeat has sent them all the way down to seventh place in the Premier League table, with serious questioned being asked about their top four credentials this season.
