Manchester City are already eight points behind Liverpool.

Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan has told The Mirror that he’s hoping Liverpool drop points – and isn’t happy at such a situation.
Liverpool maintained their 100% start to the Premier League season on Saturday afternoon, beating Leicester City 2-1 at Anfield with a last-gasp James Milner penalty.
That left the ball in City’s court to close the gap back down to five points, and they were widely expected to swat aside Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad Stadium.
However, City couldn’t break down Wolves, and were then hit twice on the counter-attack in almost identical goals, as Raul Jimenez twice set up Adama Traore to slot past Ederson on the break.
That defeat means Liverpool already boast an eight-point lead at the top of the table, and having won 17 Premier League games in a row, it’s hard to see where the Reds will drop points.
After losing out in a remarkable title race last season, Liverpool will now hope they get the better of Pep Guardiola’s men, and City players already seem a little worried.
City midfielder Gundogan is in a somewhat unique position, as he played in two title-winning seasons for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp at Dortmund, so will know just how dangerous his teams can be when leading by huge margins.

Gundogan has now admitted that he’s already hoping Liverpool drop points, and he ‘can’t he happy’ with that situation, as City shouldn’t be relying on other teams so early into the season, but just hopes to close the gap and iron out some issues in the City side.
“It’s not easy to take these things and see your biggest rival win all the time,” said Gundogan. “We’ve definitely dropped too many points in the early part of the season. If that’s the case in the next few weeks, the gap will be even bigger, so we have to win as much as possible. It’s quite early in the season and there are still a lot of points to play for, but if we want to speak about the title, we have to hope Liverpool will drop points.”
“That’s a fact we can’t be happy with and obviously we aren’t. But there’s nothing else to do but make it better in the next game. We know we have much more to show. It’s too late now, so we have to accept it and learn from the situation. It shows we still have weak points which we have to fix as soon as possible,” he added.
