West Bromwich Albion are linked with a shock move for the Spanish goalkeeper.

Newcastle United have been linked with the Real Madrid legend – now at Porto – but it seems as if West Brom boss Alan Pardew is also in the mix.
Not only is Casillas a fine goalkeeper, but surely his arrival would raise the Baggies’ profile enough to make The Hawthorns a more attractive destination for other January targets.

Let’s face it: Albion need all the help they can get next month.
Pardew’s side lost 2-1 to Manchester United at The Hawthorns on Sunday. If not for Gareth Barry’s consolation – West Brom’s first goal in four games under the 56-year-old manager – then there would’ve been very few positives.

The West Midlands side are now second from bottom in the Premier League, two points adrift of safety having not won since the second week of the season, drawing eight and losing eight since then.
January can’t come soon enough for Pardew, but kicking things off with the signing of Casillas would be a huge statement and the manager’s other targets would be far more receptive toward a switch to Albion if they knew the World Cup winner had signed on.
