Tennis players have the luxury of playing all around the world, and Iga Swiatek’s career has taken her to every edge of the globe.

The world number two has often called out the hectic nature of the WTA Tour schedule, but it has allowed her to travel the world.

Swiatek has kickstarted her season at the United Cup in Australia, ahead of the first Grand Slam of the year at the Australian Open.

At the event, the Polish star has named the city she loves so much that she thinks she could live there.

Iga Swiatek adores playing tennis in Sydney

Swiatek is currently playing for Poland in the United Cup in Sydney and she’s opened up about her adoration for the city.

Speaking at the United Cup, the world number two said: “I love being here. I could honestly live here — I love Sydney.”

Swiatek’s form has been impressive at the United Cup in Sydney, where she has beaten Eva Lys, Suzan Lamens, and Maya Joint.

That’s only boosted Swiatek’s love for Sydney, which the Pole said was “Becoming my favourite city in the whole world. I really have fun here.”

Swiatek’s next match in Sydney will be against Coco Gauff as Poland face the United States for a place in the final of the United Cup.

Iga Swiatek’s record in Australia is not great despite her love for the country

Swiatek might have a great passion for Sydney, but she’s never played her best tennis on the WTA Tour’s Australian swing.

The star is yet to win the United Cup for Poland in three attempts, with her best effort coming in 2025 when she lost to the United States in the final.

The Australian Open is also the only Grand Slam that the Polish star is yet to win, having been knocked out at the semi-final stage on two occasions in 2022 and 2025.

Swiatek’s only victory on Australian soil came all the way back in 2021, when she won the Adelaide International.

The Pole defeated Belinda Bencic in the final, but she has failed even to reach a final in singles competition in Australia since.
