Speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Darren Bent has been discussing Mykhaylo Mudryk after he joined Chelsea.

For the longest time it looked like Mudryk would be headed to Arsenal in the January transfer window, but the winger is now a Chelsea player after a late hijack.

Bent has been impressed by what he’s seen from the player so far, and he believes that Arsenal fans must be disappointed about the fact he has gone to Stamford Bridge rather than the Emirates.

Bent says Arsenal may regret Mudryk

The pundit gave his verdict on Arsenal missing out on Mudryk.

“He’s quick, he’s sharp and we saw against Liverpool how he can get in and out of tight spaces as well. For Arsenal, if you’re an Arsenal fan you are disappointed that he hasn’t come to your club, but for Chelsea it’s a fantastic bit of business and I think he’ll be a real success,” Bent said.

Did better business

Will Arsenal eventually live to regret missing out on Mudryk? Perhaps, but their January business was fantastic in any case.

They signed a more proven player than Mudryk for a fraction of the price in Leandro Trossard, while they also used the money saved on Mudryk to sign a centre-back and a midfielder.

Mudryk could go on to become a world-class player, but Arsenal failing to sign him may well be a blessing in disguise as they’ve managed to redistribute the funds they had put aside to sign the Ukrainian to bring in three quality new signings.
