Tony Cascarino has stated that it ‘looked a great option’ for Tottenham to try and sign Bernardo Silva in the summer if Harry Kane ended up going to Manchester City, as he told talkSPORT.
In the summer, it was well-documented that Manchester City wanted to sign Kane and Cascarino has shared how Spurs could have signed the now-thriving Silva as part of that deal.
Given what has happened this season, there will be some who are probably hoping they can turn back the clocks and make that deal happen.
Silva has scored seven Premier League goals this term, including a goal of the season contender against Aston Villa.
Meanwhile, over in North London, Kane only has one Premier League goal to his name, as his struggles continue in front of goal show no signs of stopping.
After Silva was at it again over the weekend, Cascarino shared his thoughts on what could have happened with the player during the summer transfer window.
“He’s so comfortable with the ball at his feet, he never gets flustered,” said Cascarino.
“We were saying in the summer ‘if you can get Bernardo Silva in a deal if you lose Kane and get a bit of money’.
“Well, he might not want to leave Man City and might not want to go. That, to me, looked like a great option.
“They had lost Eriksen, they haven’t really had a player replace him at the quality of a Bernardo Silva – it wasn’t certain that he would stay at Man City. But, since the start of the season, he has been fantastic.”

Well, there’s no way Spurs are going to get hold of a player of Silva’s qualities now, as he is one of the best in Europe right now.
Whilst Mohamed Salah stands tall above everyone as the best in the world, it’s fair to say that Silva isn’t far behind.
Kane, this time last season, would have been considered one of the best in the world given the number he was putting up, both in the goals and assists department.
But, fast forward to today, and he’s no longer the best player in his own team, nevermind elsewhere, given the abject form he has been in.
