The Wolverhampton Wanderers ace has been linked with a January exit.
Worrying reports regarding Wolves ace Ruben Neves’s future at Molineux emerged this morning, with Italian publication Calcio Mercato claiming that Jorge Mendes is trying to engineer a move to Juventus for his client.
The 21-year-old joined the Black Country outfit from Porto in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £15.8 million, and he has gone on to establish himself as a real fan favourite at Molineux, making 57 appearances in the process.
Neves sits at the base of Wolves’ midfield, and dictates the manner in which his side go about their business.
He is Nuno Espirito Santo’s on-field general – not in a physical sense, but more from a leadership perspective, and the way in which he leads by example to his teammates.
The way that Neves has performed over the past few years has obviously led to rumours linking him with a switch to some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Wolves still hold all of the cards, however.
The Portugal international is still under contract at Molineux until the summer of 2023, and Wolves are in no desperate need to sell for financial reasons.
They absolutely must keep hold of Neves, if they truly want to achieve success over the next few years, and selling him would send out totally the wrong message to their Premier League rivals.
At just 21-years-old, the Portuguese is already one of the best players in the league in his position, and Wolves would be making a real statement by keeping hold of the midfielder.
