West Ham United have been linked with a move for the teenager.

According to ESPN, West Ham United are among the clubs interested in signing Rosenborg’s Olaus Skarsem, and one wonders what that could mean for Hammers skipper Mark Noble.
After all, the West Ham midfielder has been well below his best for some time now, in a run that stretches from last season to the current campaign, and if the Hammers successfully bid for the 19-year-old it could be another nail in the coffin for a player whose time at the London Stadium looks to be nearing its end.

The simple fact is that despite his obvious passion for the club, Noble is not performing well enough to justify his place in the starting XI, and any move for the highly sought after Skarsem could seal his fate.
Skarsem’s career is just getting started, but with the likes of Liverpool and Everton also interested, West Ham are only likely to beat them to the punch with the offer of regular first-team football.
In so doing, it would offer more competition for places in the Hammers’ midfield and usher in a new era at a club that already has some of the best young talent in the country chomping at the bit for a chance.

Skarsem is the real deal, and you can rest assured he would put in the kind of performances that have long since faded from Noble’s repertoire.
Whether it is the latest West Ham target or another exciting midfield prospect, the next signing could push Noble towards the bench and, from there, an eventual exit.
