Marginalised at West Ham before, if they go down could Robert Snodgrass suddenly become key for them after impressing with Aston Villa this season?

At the start of the season it looked like there was no way back for Robert Snodgrass at West Ham United as the winger was sent on loan to Aston Villa.
Only bought from Hull City in the previous transfer window in January 2017, Snodgrass played 15 times for the Hammers before being sent to the Championship by then manager Slaven Bilic.

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan later revealed in an interview with the Guardian his children “begged” him not to sign the Scotland international, while the player himself criticised Bilic for not even knowing where to play him – as outlined by Sky Sports.
However, the Croatian has since been sacked and replaced by David Moyes and after six months of struggle at the London Stadium, Snodgrass has been back to his best at Villa with eight goals and 13 assists in 33 league matches this term.
The East Londoners have hardly been shining without the 30-year-old either, currently one place and two points outside the Premier League relegation zone with eight games left to play.

So if the club does go down, whether Moyes is there or not, has Snodgrass shown with his impressive form this season and in the past in the second tier of English football that he could then become key for them in going back up?
That is whether the Scot would want to return to a club where things went so wrong for him, though, especially with the Villans gunning for promotion themselves and Birmingham Live reporting they would like to make the attacker’s stay with them permanent.
