West Bromwich Albion are being linked with William Carvalho.
Over the last few years, the great and the good of the English game have been linked with a move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho, but up until now he has remained in his homeland.
The latest report – from the Daily Mail – claims West Bromwich Albion have made a bid for the holding midfielder, who has a £38million release clause in his contract.

It is highly unlikely that the Baggies have gone that high, but if they do ultimately persuade Sporting to part company with the 24-year-old it could see them benefit where so many have failed before them.
After all, this is a player who was first linked with Manchester United back in 2013 by the Mail and has been regularly tipped to move to Old Trafford thereafter.
More recently, Arsenal and Liverpool were tipped to bid big for the player in a report by the Express, and that is only the tip of the iceberg for someone once tipped to be the next big thing to come out of Portugal.

Since then his star has dimmed somewhat, but there is no doubting William’s innate talent, and if West Brom seal a deal they could be the ones to do what many should have before them and taken a chance.
After all, at his best William is a dominant, influential midfielder who has all the hallmarks of a great holding player.
Few would have thought West Brom would be the ones to benefit when he first burst onto the scene but things change quickly in football.
