Former Ibrox defender David Weir has said on Football Pass that Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard was not brought down inside the Rangers penalty box by Borna Barisic.
Rangers played out 1-1 draw with Celtic away from home at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.
There was a controversial incident in the first half when it appeared that Celtic should have had a penalty.
Edouard went down inside the penalty box under a challenge from Rangers defender Barisic, but the referee booked the 23-year-old Frenchman for simulation.
Former Rangers defender and assistant manager Weir does not think that it was a dive from Edouard, but he believes that it was the right decision not to award a penalty, adding that even VAR would have said no.

Weir has said on Football Pass: “I think fair play to the referee. I think he got it right. There was obviously a movement towards Edouard. I think Edouard anticipated the contact that never actually came from Barisic.
“I wouldn’t say it’s a dive. I think he tried to anticipate the contact. That’s the modern-day game and the modern-day player. I can understand why he has done it.
“I don’t think it’s a penalty. I think if VAR had been involved and had looked back, they wouldn’t have thought it was a penalty so I think the right decision was made.”
Rangers march on
The draw with Celtic means that Rangers remain unbeaten in the Scottish Premiership and stay on course to end the season without suffering a single defeat.
Steven Gerrard’s Rangers have already won the Scottish Premiership title this season, and they will be keen on clinching the Scottish Cup as well.
