If Tottenham Hotspur were to consider selling Erik Lamela, Real Madrid is the only club they should consider doing a deal with.

Spurs would probably be wise to keep a player who does have the ability to turn into one of the very best, and ship out those who don’t have the type of potential he does, but if they do consider it an option, the best choice for Daniel Levy would be to dust off the old contact book and speak to Real Madrid.
Lamela is the type of flair player the Spanish side love, and a video of his Rabona goal against Asteras Tripoli would whet the appetite of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and get him thinking of his next Galactico.
At 22, he can still develop into that type of player, and would likely flourish in La liga rather than the physical Premier League in which he is yet to shine.
Tottenham have had success in stinging Real Madrid for big prices over the past few years. Take the £30 million they received for Luka Modric, or the world record £86 million for Gareth Bale.
Real Madrid are arguably the only side who Spurs could convince to hand them a profit on the £30 million they themselves paid Roma to sign Lamela for, and see them draw a line under his career at the club without taking a loss.
Then there is the possibility that Spurs could try to do a deal to re-sign Luka Modric. Real signed Toni Kroos in the summer, and if they manage to convince Sami Khedira to stay, then the Croatian could be forced out.
Bringing the Croatian back to White Hart Lane may be divisive, yet you only need to look at the poor midfield play this season, and remember his performances for Spurs to realise what an upgrade he would be. The chances of doing a deal for him are slim, but without Lamela being sold to Madrid, they are non-existent.
The way it is looking, Tottenham have bigger fish to fry in terms of under-performing stars to ship out, with Roberto Soldado and Vlad Chiriches clearly surplus to requirements at this point.
Lamela can be redeemed, and Spurs should not give up on him, but if they already have, or lean in that direction, then nudging him towards Real Madrid is their best bet to redeem top money.
