It has recently been claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have decided to bring in Pau Lopez to the club on a permanent deal.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Spurs have decided to pay the €7 million (£6 million) buyout clause in the loan deal for the Espanyol goalkeeper.

He has been on loan at the club all season but is yet to feature for the first-team at Spurs. He has a big battle on his hands getting ahead of Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm in the pecking order at White Hart Lane. Despite this, Tottenham appear keen on bringing him in permanently as they see him as a future first-team goalkeeping option.

But what does this mean for the fourth-choice goalie Luke McGee?

The 21-year-old Londoner has been at Spurs since 2012 but is yet to make his first-team debut for the club. This season he has been out on loan at Peterborough United in League One and has been in tremendous form.

He has put in a string of good performances that has seen some Tottenham fans begin believing that perhaps he is a good option for the future at the club.

But if Pau is being signed permanently then McGee will surely struggle to see a long-term future for himself at Tottenham Hotspur.

Just like the likes of Tom Carroll, Nabil Bentaleb and Alex Pritchard the goalie may have to consider a future away from White Hart Lane.
