‘If this is true’: Some Arsenal fans cannot believe what Edu and Arteta may be about to do

Some Arsenal fans on Twitter are stunned by a report from L’Equipe about William Saliba.

According to the French publication, Arsenal are set to loan Saliba to Marseille for the 2021-22 campaign.

But the report adds that the Ligue 1 outfit will have an option to sign the 20-year-old for £7 million last summer.

And if that’s true, it’s an awful bit of business by Arsenal.

Remember, the Gunners spent £27 million on the player two years ago and if L’Equipe is right, they’re looking at a £20 million hit on their initial investment.

Abysmal

Part of the outrage comes from the fact that Saliba remains literally untested.

Despite joining two years ago, the big centre-back, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Nice, still hasn’t played a single minute of competitive football in an Arsenal shirt.

This is a player with huge potential and if he develops into the star that his attributes suggest he could become, it’s an abysmal reflection on head coach Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu.
