Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, former England international David Seaman has been discussing Everton, new manager Frank Lampard, and what would happen if the Toffees were relegated from the Premier League for the first time.

The Merseyside club is one of only seven ever-present teams in the Premier League since its inception in 1992. However, right now they’re in danger of going down to the Championship.

Indeed, they’re in shocking form and they sit just a few points above the drop zone.

If Everton do go down, it would be an absolute disaster for the club. However, David Seaman believes new manager Frank Lampard would be the man to bring the Merseyside giants straight back up.

What’s Seaman said?

The former Arsenal goalkeeper made a prediction about what could happen if Everton were relegated..

“If they go down, (Lampard) would (get them straight back up). He won’t leave and I can’t see him getting sacked after just a few months in charge. The jury would still be out, especially going into the next season,” Seaman said.

Lampard should save Everton or face the consequences

Seaman says Lampard wouldn’t be sacked after just a few months in charge but, if he’s at the helm and Everton go down, surely he’ll be under serious pressure?

Yes, the Toffees are currently on a downward spiral but there’s still a decent enough gap between themselves and the bottom three.

There’s a lot of football to be played and, if Lampard can’t change their fortunes between now and the end of the season, he may be relieved of his duties.
