Aston Villa boss Dean Smith is known to be wanting to strengthen at centre-back this summer.

If Aston Villa sign Terence Kongolo, then Tyrone Mings surely won’t be joining too.
Kongolo is a left-footed centre-back, just like Mings, and at the price the Huddersfield man would cost he certainly wouldn’t be joining as back-up.
There is, of course, an argument to suggest that Villa need two centre-backs this summer.
However, Smith is surely highly unlikely to bring in two centre-backs more comfortable with their left-foot, as it would leave their defence unbalanced.

It seems likely that Mings will be Villa’s first choice this summer, as he was so impressive on a loan spell with Dean Smith’s side.
But if Kongolo does arrive, it may just suggest that all has not gone well in their negotiations with Bournemouth for the Villa Park fans’ favourite.
