Why if Swansea do sack Paul Clement then appointing former West Brom boss Tony Pulis as manager is not the right call.

Paul Clement is the odds on favourite with Skybet to be the next Premier League manager to leave their position after Swansea City lost 1-0 at Chelsea.
The Swans have not won in the English top flight since October 14 and have only been victorious in the league twice all season, a run which sees them 19th in the table and in the relegation zone, only off the bottom on goal difference.

Even before their 0-0 draw at home to Bournemouth at the weekend and then defeat at Stamford Bridge the Daily Mail was reporting that Clement would be sacked and replaced by Tony Pulis.
Pulis was dismissed from his own managerial position at West Bromwich Albion on November 20 but has been tipped to make a quick return to the dugout at the Liberty Stadium.
The Welshman has a reputation of being a firefighter and getting teams threatened with the drop out of danger having never been relegated in his career, but while on the face of it that seems to make the 59-year-old ideal for Swansea in this scenario he would actually be all wrong.
Pulis’ success has been built on defensive solidity and organisation, but with little going forwards, with West Brom having scored just nine times in 12 league outings this term before he was axed.

Yet being solid at the back is not the South Wales side’s problem, with that goal against the Blues their 16th conceded this campaign – the best in the bottom half of the table and a record only bettered by six teams in the entire division.
It is going forwards that is the issue, with seven goals scored the fewest in the top tier with a 21 percent shooting accuracy and with just four shots on target and no goals in their last four matches.
If they want to score more Pulis is not the answer.
