Tottenham Hotspur have struggled in a big way to sign strikers in recent years.
Well, they have definitely brought in some, but they haven’t been the right options.
Vincent Janssen, Fernando Llorente and Carlos Vinicius have all proven to be pretty underwhelming back-up options to Harry Kane since 2016.
But if one rumour is true, Tottenham could now sign someone who will prove an absolute nightmare for Premier League defenders.
According to The Daily Mail, Spurs are keen on bringing Paul Onuachu to North London.
The 27-year-old is a terrifying prospect for centre-backs, for two reasons.
Firstly, he netted 35 goals in 41 games across all competitions for Genk last season.
And secondly, the Nigerian marksman is a towering 6 foot 7 in height.
Some cynical supporters might play down his goal return based on the fact that he’s a heavy scorer in Belgium which, to be honest, is true.
Onuachu is unproven in the Premier League and there’s no getting away from that.
But there’s also no getting away from the fact that with his height, he’s going to be an absolute handful for many-a-defence in English football if he does wind up at Tottenham.
This is a player who will score goals on size alone, leaving aside his actual footballing ability.
And for £20 million, he could be a bargain.
