Speculation is rife that Arsenal are still interested in the transfer of Raheem Sterling.

The Gunners were linked with a move for the Manchester City star during the summer of 2021 but nothing materialised.

According to The Daily Star, Arsenal will make another attempt next summer.

And if they succeed this time around, Mikel Arteta could pull off the biggest bargain of 2022.

Absolute bargain

That’s because the 26-year-old will only have a year left on his contract at Eastlands by then and City will have no choice but to sell for a cut-price fee.

But another reason it’ll be a bargain is because, as mentioned, Sterling is 26.

If he moves to Arsenal next summer, he’ll be 27 and very much in the prime of his career – and considering what he has achieved up to this point, his peak years promise to be something special.

This is a player with 97 goals and 51 assists in just under 300 Premier League appearances which, for someone who isn’t a number nine, is a startling statistic.

And better yet, Sterling is only going to get better and the Arsenal boss – who coached him with the Sky Blues – will know how to unlock more of his potential, or so you would imagine.

With £300,000-a-week wages, the Emirates Stadium club are still going to have to invest heavily in the former Liverpool gem, irrespective of the cut-price transfer fee.

But all things considered, this could be an absolutely blinding deal for the North Londoners and in terms of value, it might not be beaten next summer.
