Tanguy Ndombele arrived at Tottenham Hotspur with high expectations, but his time at the club has been a mixed bag. After a bright start, the midfielder has struggled to find consistent form and has been frozen out by previous managers, including current boss Antonio Conte.

However, with numerous reports casting doubts on the future of Conte, there are murmurs that a new gaffer could be on his way to north London.

According to Il Matino, Luciano Spalletti is one coach under consideration by Tottenham, and if he arrives, Ndombele could get back in the team.

Indeed, the potential arrival of Luciano Spalletti as the new Spurs boss, could see a Ndombele work his way back into the team. The Italian coach is known for getting the best out of his players, particularly in midfield. He has a track record of utilising these so-called luxury players to great effect. He has worked wonders with the likes of Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Miralem Pjanic in the past.

The Frenchman has shown glimpses of his quality during his loan spell at Napoli under Spalletti, and it’s clear that the two have a good working relationship. Spalletti’s tactical system has allowed Ndombele to play to his strengths, with the freedom to roam forward and create chances for his teammates.

Furthermore, Spalletti has been known to favor a 4-2-3-1 formation, which would give Ndombele a central role in the team. With his ability to drive forward with the ball and pick out incisive passes.

There’s no denying that Ndombele has the ability to be a top-class midfielder, but the tactical fit and Spurs and his application have been called into question in the past. However, with Spalletti at the helm, he could finally fulfill that potential.

Of course, there are still question marks over Ndombele’s attitude and work rate, which has been an issue in the past. However, with the right coaching and support, he could overcome these issues and get back into the fold at Spurs.

Now, we’re not saying that Ndombele would be a key player for Spalletti’s Tottenham, but it’s likely that he would have a part to play if the Napoli boss came to north London.
