It has been reported by Record that Liverpool already have an agreement in place to sign Enzo Fernandez in the summer.
The Argentine has been one of the stars of the World Cup, and this is a very exciting transfer rumour that could completely reinvigorate Liverpool’s midfield.
Indeed, Fernandez looks like a star in the making, but the sad reality is that he won’t be coming cheaply.
Yes, his £103m release clause may not have to be met, but you’re probably not paying too far short of that figure for a player like Fernandez in this day and age.
At the age of 21 as a potential World Cup winner, Fernandez is undoubtedly likely to fetch north of £50m – and that’s a very conservative estimation in this market.

Of course, reports in the Portuguese press often have to be taken with a pinch of salt as they have been known to exaggerate, but every so often they are spot on, so if Liverpool have indeed agreed to sign Fernandez, you have to feel as though a move for Jude Bellingham is off the table.
Not only are Fernandez and Bellingham similar players who would be vying for the same spot in the team, the Argentine will surely take up the vast bulk of the Reds’ summer transfer budget unless a huge sale is made.
Saying that, Liverpool don’t really seem to have too many realistic sellable assets at the moment.
Mo Salah has just signed a new deal, Virgil van Dijk is indespensible, Trent Alexander-Arnold is likely to spend his entire career at Anfield, while the likes of Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota are only just getting warmed up in a red shirt.
When all is considered, it’s really hard to imagine Liverpool spending big money on both Fernandez and Bellingham in the same transfer window, so if this rumour about the Argentine is true, Liverpool may need to kiss their chances of signing Bellingham goodbye.
