Arsenal probably won last summer’s transfer window.
Not only did they spend more than any club in European football, but they signed a number of gems which look like they could be Gunners mainstays for years to come.
Aaron Ramsdale, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Ben White and Martin Odegaard have all proven themselves wonderful additions and they should, in theory, get even better.
This summer, however, Arsenal can win the transfer window for another reason.
Bargain of the window?
Speculation is rife that the North Londoners want to sign Paulo Dybala.
According to Tutto Juve on Saturday, Arsenal are ready to make the 28-year-old Argentina international an offer.
Dybala is out of contract at Juventus in June and whoever gets him is going to get one hell of a bargain.
Only a few short years ago, Dybala was one of the best attacking players on the continent and although his stock has certainly fallen since then, he’s only entering the prime of his career now.
And the fact that Arsenal could potentially sign him free of charge means that it’s a bargain which might not be beaten this summer.
There’s sought-after free transfers every summer, but not many of them were the subjects of a rejected £140 million bid by Barcelona five years ago.
As mentioned, Dybala isn’t as lethal now as he was back then.
But still aged 28, the South American marksman can still have one hell of a prime and if those peak years are spent at Arsenal, who will have signed him for nothing, well you won’t find better value for money than that.
