Celtic have taken defender Moses Odubajo on trial.

Celtic have made one signing in the transfer market this summer, landing loan striker Odsonne Edouard on a permanent basis from Paris Saint-Germain after a strong season.

The Bhoys are still in the market for more signings though, and Rodgers appears to be considering a move to sign Hull City right back Moses Odubajo on a free transfer.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Odubajo – a free agent with his Hull contract expiring – has joined up with the Celtic squad on their pre-season trip to Austria, in the hope of landing a deal.

The 24-year-old has been through injury hell over the last two years, and hasn’t played at all since the end of the 2015-16 season having suffered major knee troubles which have put his career in jeopardy.

Now, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers looks to be prepared to take a chance on Odubajo, potentially as a replacement for Cristian Gamboa in the right back ranks behind Mikael Lustig.

If Rodgers can get Odubajo fit and firing to the levels that saw him become a star with Brentford before his 2015 move to Hull, then it could just be one of his best Celtic deals yet.

The former Leyton Orient ace was a winger earlier in his career, possessing exceptional pace and attacking ability, and that makes him a smart candidate to backup Lustig initially, offering something totally different to the Swede.

Odubajo still has bags of untapped potential thanks to his injury, and whilst it’s difficult to recover from a two-year absence, he could end up being Lustig’s successor in a bargain free transfer move – and if Rodgers can really revitalise Odubajo’s career, Celtic may have struck gold.
