Alasdair Gold has shared that Tottenham Hotspur could push for Brentford striker Ivan Toney during the January transfer window if things go against them during these coming months.
The Football London journalist noted ‘Richarlison having a stinker’ or injuries to key players in the forward areas possibly igniting such a situation, as he told his own YouTube channel.
One thing is for sure, Tottenham have ‘certainly looked’ at signing Ivan Toney, with the Brentford hitman currently serving a ban for betting breaches.
Toney’s ban will end on January 16 and Brentford’s first Premier League game proceeding that date will be…yes, you guessed it right, an away trip to Tottenham on January 30.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the 27-year-old during the winter transfer window because many clubs are looking at him, including Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea.
But, after selling Harry Kane, that brute and bonafide number nine is still needed at Spurs, with Gold sharing his thoughts on Toney.

Tottenham’s transfer links with Toney
“They certainly looked at Ivan Toney, along with a lot of other clubs,” said Gold. “I think there is going to be a lot of interest in Toney.
“I will be intrigued to see if anyone could prize him away in January because his ban doesn’t end until right at the end of the month. Of course, Spurs are the first game back that he is available to play in.
“It depends how it goes. If Richarlison does have a stinker from now until January, then maybe they look for a new striker in January. I think another centre-back was going to be the priority.
“I think it relies a lot upon injuries to Richarlison and Son. And whether they are in form.”

Toney’s comments about Arsenal
If Spurs go knocking for Toney, they face a massive obstacle and that’s the player’s recent comments about Arsenal.
Whilst also sharing that he supported Liverpool as a kid growing up, Toney also expressed his love for Arsenal.
Now, the striker dubbed ‘strong’ by Jay Bothroyd, didn’t make these comments when he was younger or at another club, but just less than a month ago.
Yes, football can be a crazy world, but with all the interest in Toney, you think that Spurs might just lose out on this one if they go knocking.
