Tottenham reportedly want to sign Inter Milan and Netherlands flyer Denzel Dumfries ahead of the January window – and if the player-plus-cash deal reports are true, Fabio Paratici could pull off his best Tottenham transfer yet.
Dumfries, 26, has starred for Inter Milan since joining the club in the summer of 2021. Already playing 62 times in all competitions, he has had a hand in 16 goals from the right flank. He is excellent in attack, but strong in defence, too.
Arguably, he is one of the world’s best players in his position. Italian outlet CMW claim that Tottenham want to sign the ex-PSV Eindhoven star. Inter Milan are said to rate Dumfries in the region of £35m, with Inter needing to sell.
But the report adds a twist. They say that Inter Milan have shown interest in Emerson Royal in the past and that the Brazil international could be included in a deal. So, a player-plus-cash deal to sign Dumfries in the January window.

Tottenham want Dumfries: Paratici could pull off his best transfer yet
Royal has been poor. He has not proven the transfer fee paid to Barcelona at the same time, Dumfries joined Inter. He adds little in attack. Compared to Dumfries’ 16 involvements in 62, Royal has three involvements in 57 games.
Royal is poor in attack, and he is rash in defence. He is often saved by having Cristian Romero behind him. Last season, Matt Doherty was first choice at times before his injury. Spurs need a much-better option in that position.
But, they already have three options. Doherty is the perfect man to provide cover, a well-liked member of the squad and good in the dressing room. Spence is a young talent with huge potential. Royal is a bit, nowhere in between.
They will have to sell one of them. If Paratici can immediately improve the Spurs side with Dumfries, and in the same deal, drive Dumfries’ £35million price tag down by including Royal, it would be his best transfer since joining Spurs.
