If Rangers beat Celtic in the next Old Firm derby could there be a genuine title race happening?

Celtic’s 69-game unbeaten domestic run came to an end in spectacular fashion when Hearts thumped them 4-0 in a Scottish Premiership clash.
It brought to a close a record that is now the best in British history and was a blip on what had been an impressive stretch under manager Brendan Rodgers.

The defeat didn’t seem to affect the Bhoys too much as they returned to winning ways on Wednesday (December 20) night by beating Patrick Thistle 2-0.
However, it has seen the Glasgow side’s lead at the top of the table cut to five points as Aberdeen – who they host this Saturday (December 23) – closed the gap slightly.

Just behind them in third place are Rangers, who also lost at the weekend but may now sense a genuine opportunity to compete in the first title race with their Old Firm rivals since their enforced relegation to the fourth tier in 2012.
They next face the Hoops on December 30 in a derby clash at Parkhead that should Gers win, could suddenly turn what looked to a foregone conclusion into an exciting race for silverware.
