According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are now looking at Benfica’s Rui Pedro Braz as a replacement for Fabio Paratici as a ban from football looms large.

Paratici is currently in hot water due to some misdealings at Juventus, and Spurs are looking at alternative Sporting Directors as they brace for the prospect of the Italian being handed a ban.

Benfica’s General Director, Pedro Braz, is one name that has cropped up, and that is a very interesting prospect to say the least.

Simply put, no team in Europe has been better at Benfica when it comes to talent identification and getting value in the market in recent years.

The likes of Enzo Fernandez, Darwin Nunez and Joao Felix have all passed through Benfica before moving on for huge fees, and that’s down to the good work of people like Pedro Braz.

Braz certainly has an eye for talent, and if he came to Spurs we’d have to imagine he’d want to take some players from Benfica with him. After all, many Sporting Directors do look to raid their former clubs – just look at Paratici snapping up Cristian Romero, Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

So, if Braz is going to take some of Benfica’s stars to Spurs with him, who would he look at?

Well, in our view, Antonio Silva would be the prime candidate.

At the age of just 19, the centre-back already looks like the finished product. Starring for both Benfica and Portugal at a young age.

Jamie Carragher has said in the past that he’s ‘going to be a superstar’ and given that Spurs need a centre-back this would be a logical addition.

Tottenham have actually been linked to this player before, while he was recommended to them as a signing before the January window too.

He could be a star of the present and the future, and given that Braz has seen him develop and mature at Benfica, he’d surely be keen to bring him to Spurs.

If Spurs do add Braz to their backroom staff, don’t be surprised if they move for Silva in the near future.
