Newcastle have been repeatedly linked with a move to re-sign Andros Townsend.

Last summer, Newcastle United were once again linked with a move to bring Andros Townsend back to St. James’ Park after selling the England international following the club’s relegation in 2016.
The Daily Mirror claimed Rafa Benitez had been left frustrated by the club’s decision not to enter the running to sign former Tottenham wing wizard Townsend, who has since impressed in Crystal Palace’s fight against relegation.
However, Newcastle may find that luring Townsend back to St. James’ Park could prove a lot easier this summer after reports suggested current side Palace are interested in signing West Ham United powerhouse Michail Antonio.

The Sun reported that former Nottingham Forest ace Antonio is a target for Roy Hodgson and Palace ahead of the summer window, meaning he could push the likes of Townsend down the pecking order.
It may see Townsend’s position at Selhurst Park become more flexible, and a summer bid from the Toon may tempt Palace into parting with the 13-time England ace.
This season, Townsend has shown just what he is capable of in the final third, scoring two goals but more importantly providing eight assists in a side that have been near the drop zone for the majority of the campaign.

Townsend is still held in high regard on Tyneside despite his short stint at Newcastle, where he scored four goals and turned provider another two times in 13 games after being signed by Steve McClaren and then working under Rafa Benitez.
Townsend still has three years remaining on his Palace contract but if they sign Antonio, surely Newcastle should look to reignite interest in their former winger and convince him to move back to the north east.
