According to a report in ESporte, Newcastle United were working on a deal to sign Luan on deadline day – and his arrival could have saved Rafael Benitez’s side.

Newcastle already look much improved with just Kenedy in their team, but with Luan they really would have been a threat.

And missing out on the 24-year-old has to be considered a blow for Newcastle, in their battle against the drop.
