Newcastle United would have had a seriously dangerous attack, if they could have signed Luan on deadline day.

According to a report in ESporte, Newcastle United were working on a deal to sign Luan on deadline day – and his arrival could have saved Rafael Benitez’s side.

Newcastle attempted to get a deal over the line for Luan, who is currently playing for Gremio.

The two-time Brazilian international would have been a highly eye-catching addition for the Magpies, and his creativity could have been crucial in the second half of the campaign

Luan’s compatriot, Kenedy, has already made a big difference to Newcastle’s attacking play, and the thought of the pair working in tandem would have been a tantalising prospect for Benitez.

Newcastle have lacked a threat going forward all season, but with Luan and Kenedy in the line-up they would have had an offensive line-up which could have struck fear into defences across the league.

Newcastle already look much improved with just Kenedy in their team, but with Luan they really would have been a threat.

And missing out on the 24-year-old has to be considered a blow for Newcastle, in their battle against the drop.
