Scott Booth says Derek McInnes must win trophies to be considered an Aberdeen great – if he does should he then leave for West Brom?

Former Aberdeen striker Scott Booth says that for Derek McInnes to be considered a club great he needs to win more trophies – such as the Scottish Cup.
The Dons face Motherwell in the semi-final of the competition on Saturday (April 14) and Booth thinks this season could be the perfect time for McInnes to achieve legendary status.

“It’s a significant game for Aberdeen. There is a lot riding on it,” the Glasgow City manager told the Scottish Sun.
“Under Derek, they have been a really good side for a number of years now but, for the fans, it’s all about winning trophies and they have had a lot of near misses.
“It would be massive for them to take that trophy. If you are going to be a great manager, you need to win things.”
Under McInnes the club have finished as runners-up to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership for past three seasons and won the League Cup back in 2014.

Perfect time to leave?
If McInnes were to win the Cup – which is no mean feat considering it is an Old Firm derby in the other semi as Rangers take on the Bhoys on Sunday (April 15) – then could it be the perfect time for the 46-year-old to leave the Pittodrie Stadium?
As Sky Sports reports, the ex-St Johnstone and Bristol City boss has been heavily linked with the vacant position currently at West Bromwich Albion following the sacking of Alan Pardew.
Booth could well be right and silverware could make McInnes a legend at Aberdeen then perhaps he could leave on a high to return to English football and a new challenge.
