Should Newcastle United sell Ayoze Perez in the summer transfer window if Marseille make a good offer?

Newcastle United look set to return to the Premier League at the end of the season. The Magpies may not win the Championship title this campaign, but they should finish runners-up.

Promotion to the Premier League would mean that manager Rafael Benitez would be looking at the current squad and making changes.

Benitez is likely to make signings in the summer transfer window, and the Spaniard could also be selling players who are not good enough.

Ayoze Perez may not be one of those players, but perhaps he should be. The 23-year-old forward is young and talented, but he has yet to show that he can be a success at St. James’ Park in the long run.

The former Spain Under-21 international is not guaranteed a place in Benitez’s starting lineup. Perez has shown his versatility by playing on the wing, as a central striker, and as an attacking midfielder, but has he done enough to show that he can be a huge player for Newcastle in the Premier League? Probably not.

According to EspoirsduFootball, as also reported by The Chronicle and Get French Football News, Ligue 1 outfit Marseille have been tracking Perez and have sent scouts on a number of occasions this season to watch him in action this season.

It seems that Marseille are interested in Perez. If the French club make a good offer in the summer transfer window, then Newcastle should accept it and sign a better player than the Spaniard.
