In a somewhat surprising move the Sun reports that Manchester United are considering trying to re-sign Jonny Evans from West Bromwich Albion this summer.

The Red Devils sold Evans to the Baggies for £6m in 2015 but are weighing up the prospect of bringing back the defender three years later.

The 30-year-old would be available for just £3m if West Brom, who are currently bottom of the Premier League and eight points from safety with three matches left, are relegated due to a release clause written into the Northern Ireland international’s contract.

Good news for Everton?

This latest rumour could well be greeted in positive fashion at Goodison Park, as it could potentially make Sam Allardyce’s desire to land Phil Jones from Old Trafford – as reported by the Times last month – all the more likely.

Allardyce worked with Jones at Blackburn Rovers and views the 26-year-old as the ideal signing for the Toffees as he looks to improve their back line.

The Express claimed earlier this month that United manager Jose Mourinho would be willing to sell the England international if he can secure two new defensive additions.
