Liverpool have been linked with the West Ham United midfielder.

West Ham United's Pedro Obiang celebrates scoring their second goal

According to a recent report from the Sun, Liverpool are among the clubs interested in signing West Ham United midfielder Pedro Obiang, but if the Reds do ultimately make a move what would it mean for Emre Can?

After all, the German has delivered a string of disappointing performances this season and his demotion for the recent clash with Tottenham Hotspur speaks volumes when you consider how well Liverpool played in his absence.

Can looked to be blossoming under Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. However this season he has been poor and a move for Obiang could signal the end of the 23-year-old’s time as a regular starter at Anfield.

Whether it would be enough to force an exit remains to be seen, and the final decision will of course be down to Klopp, yet there is no doubting Can’s poor form and if Liverpool do splash around £18million on Obiang it will certainly not be good news for a player who has disappointed for too long for it to be branded a mere blip.
