According to Football London, Spurs have been monitoring the young Dutchman over the past six months, and are prepared to pay £50 million in order to secure his services this summer.
De Ligt is one of the most promising young central defenders on the continent, and the idea of him partnering his countryman Virgil van Dijk at the heart of Liverpool’s defence should be a real tantalising prospect for Reds fans.
The 18-year-old has already made 53 appearances in all competitions for Ajax, and has showcased exceptional levels of maturity for someone so young.
Standing at 6ft 2in tall, De Ligt is strong in the air. He is also quick along the ground, and possesses an impressive positional sense.
He has already earned seven international caps for the Netherlands – something that highlights his quality.
Whilst Tottenham will be desperate to land De Ligt, Liverpool will be able to blow them out of the water financially, and Klopp should prioritise the signing of the Ajax man over anything else this summer.
Van Dijk would be able to mentor his young compatriot, and the pair could form one of the best central defensive partnerships in European football over the years to come.
