Tottenham Hotspur may be forced to cash in on Christian Eriksen.

Tottenham Hotspur have been rocked just days after losing the Champions League final, with playmaker Christian Eriksen looking to leave.

It’s not a huge surprise that the Dane could leave, given that he’s entering the last year of his contract, but for his comments to come so soon after the defeat to Liverpool is a blow.

Tottenham will hope that the situation doesn’t rumble on at least, and selling Eriksen early will give Mauricio Pochettino time to bring in quality reinforcements.

The Mirror now report that Daniel Levy will demand a huge £130million fee for Eriksen, and that may present Tottenham with a chance to bring in not one, but two dangerous midfielders.

Real Betis ace Giovani Lo Celso and Leicester City playmaker James Maddison are two targets for Pochettino, and the money brought in for Eriksen may hand them a chance to land both.

The Mirror claim Lo Celso has an agreement to leave Betis for £70million, and believe that Leicester will sell Maddison for £60million, with the pair potentially costing £130million – the fee Levy wants for Eriksen.

Of course, there are other factors included in a deal outside of the transfer fee, but it’s at least possible that Spurs can overhaul their midfielder by landing two skilful replacements, with Lo Celso a goalscorer and Maddison a creator.

Spurs may feel that just one is fine, and the money can be spent elsewhere. Yet Lo Celso could really replace Mousa Dembele as the left-footed midfielder with skill and drive, and Maddison replacing Eriksen’s role as a creator from open play and set pieces, meaning the duo fit perfectly into Pochettino’s side – and potentially his budget.
