Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily Podcast, Jermaine Jenas has made a prediction about Tottenham and Liverpool’s top-four chances.

Spurs and Liverpool are two sides you’d usually expect to be in and around the top four, but they’ve been way off the pace this season, sitting behind the likes of Everton, West Ham and Leicester City.

However, there’s still a lot of foothall to be played, and Jenas believes that if Leicester don’t hold onto their spot, Tottenham will usurp the Foxes into the Champions League positions.

“If Leicester don’t do it, I think Spurs will do it. Yeah I do, I think if Leicester can’t get it Spurs will get it. If they’re playing the way they are now, that’s who I see getting it. I mean that’s me completely writing off Liverpool, but they are struggling Liverpool, whereas Spurs are massively in the ascendency.”

Jenas may be right here.

Liverpool may have looked back to their best in the Champions League this week, but we can’t skirt around the fact that they’ve lost each of their last six league games at Anfield, while Tottenham are flying with a resurgent Gareth Bale leading the charge.

Of course, it may prove to be a little short-sighted to not include the likes of West Ham or Everton in this conversation. After all, they’re in a stronger position than either Spurs or Liverpool at the moment.

Time will only tell whether or not the ex-Spurs midfielder is right.
