Leeds United starlet Mallik Wilks is attracting attention from the Premier League, with Everton chasing his signature.

According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, Everton are among the Premier League sides interested in Leeds starlet Mallik Wilks after his extremely encouraging loan spell with Accrington Stanley.

Wilks is one of the most talented youngsters on Leeds’ books, but he appears to face something of a battle trying to break into the Whites’ first-team, with their attacking options looking quite strong right now.

So if Everton do confirm their interest with a bid and it is one that would appeal to Leeds – though you would imagine that that would have to be a significant offer to make the Championship club consider the bid – perhaps Thomas Christiansen’s men should try and make the best out of the situation by asking for one of the Toffees’ players in return.

One of Leeds’ problem positions this season has certainly been at left-back, with Gaetano Berardi, Vurnon Anita and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson all enjoying some bright moments but also struggling in the role at times this season.

Meanwhile, at Everton, despite his talent, Luke Garbutt continues to struggle to break through at Goodison Park having been left out of their Premier League squad during the first-half of the season.

The 24-year-old – who was on Leeds’ books until 2009 when he left as a 16-year-old – would be forgiven for thinking about his future next month, and may perhaps be tempted to ask for a move if Sam Allardyce does not suggest that the path to the first-team is there for him.

Therefore, if Leeds are resigned to potentially losing Wilks, perhaps they should see if they can get Garbutt thrown in as part of the deal. The defender has shown enough to suggest that he could be the answer to Leeds’ left-back problems, and some sort of swap deal would surely soften the blow if they end up losing Wilks.
