If Leeds sign Ducksch or Dabour, Antonsson surely has no future

Leeds are reportedly interested in signing two European strikers in January.

Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing St. Pauli loanee Marvin Ducksch and RedBull Salzburg striker Moanes Dabour in the January transfer window, but where does that leave the future of another Whites striker?

Ducksch, 23, currently sits at the top of Bundesliga 2’s goalscoring charts with 11 goals in 16 games while on loan from Champions League side Borussia Dortmund and his form has seemingly alerted the Yorkshire giants.

Leeds are likely to be in the market for a new striker as Pierre-Michel Lasogga struggles to find the form required to replace summer departure Chris Wood, with Israel international Dabour scoring 13 goals for Austrian outfit Salzburg also catching the eye.

Lasogga has managed just five goals this season while on loan from Hamburg, with fellow summer signings Pawel Cibicki and Jay-Roy Grot are also yet to make an impact in Yorkshire.

If Leeds do look to add either Ducksch or Dabour to their squad when the January transfer window hits in just over a month’s time, surely Marcus Antonsson’s time at Elland Road is up despite his impressive form on loan at Blackburn?

The 26-year-old has scored four goals in his last three games for Tony Mowbray’s side, with large sections of Leeds supporters calling on the Whites to admit their mistake and recall the Swede in January.

Antonsson struggled to adapt to English football last season following his £2million from Swedish side Kalmar FF, scoring just three goals and failing to make an appearance for Leeds after their January loss to Sutton United.

Signed by Garry Monk, Antonsson still has two years to run on his contract at Leeds, but it appears that his Elland Road spell could already be over as he would plummet even further down the pecking order if the Whites sign a new striker.

And with Leeds reportedly eyeing either Ducksch or Dabour, Antonsson must consider moving on permanently despite his excellent form suggesting he has what it takes to reignite his Leeds spell as he would be sixth choice behind Lasogga, Kemar Roofe, Cibicki, Grot and a one of either Ducksch or Dabour – if the Whites land the signature of either forward.
