Leeds United have been linked with a move for the Liverpool man.

According to ESPN, Leeds United are planning a January swoop for Liverpool’s Danny Ings, but could the forward’s arrival directly impact the Whites; standout player so far this season?
After all, if Ings arrives at Elland Road he would likely form a strike partnership with Pierre-Michel Lasogga, altering Leeds’ formation and potentially negating the influence of Samu Saiz in the process.

Saiz has been Leeds’ best player so far this season by quite some distance, scoring six goals, providing two assists and performing consistently even when many of his teammates have struggled, with the recent clash against Sheffield Wednesday the perfect example.
Playing as a secondary striker, Saiz has been able to create chances, dictate attacks and, in short, shine, but if Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen opted to play both Ings and Lasogga as a front two, Saiz may be shunted to a wide position to ensure there was sufficient defensive cover in the centre of the field.
Of course this is all hypothetical, and Leeds could certainly do with a fit and firing Ings to aid their promotion push. Yet if it was to the detriment of Saiz’s influence it would make little sense.

Leeds have a few more months to get things right before they have the chance to add more new faces to their squad, and Saiz is expected to play a major role throughout that time.
Only then can Christiansen decide what is best for his squad and how he can continue to get the best out of a player who will go down as one of Leeds’ best signings in years.
